A Godly Leader

Here is the bible's definition of a leader found in 2 Samuel 23:3-4 -(Webster's Bible Translation)

3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
4 And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

David goes on to say:
5 Although my house is not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he maketh it not to grow.

I thought of this passage while reading Jonathan's blog, and the post on Nancy Pelosi.

The great thing about the Bible is that it teaches us to find a passion outside of ourselves, while the world pushes self-actualization (finding our inner selves...ie focusing only on me, me, me!).

Leadership is the same way. Servant leadership is the kind that Christ exemplified, and the kind we should strive to live by and achieve. Anyone can bark out orders, but a true leader will lead by example and earn the respect of those around him.

Yeh, it dawned on me after pondering Mary's post on Pelosi - our leadership, particularly Dem leadership is seriously not appointed in a godly way!
