WALKING THE LINE - with a WWII mom
I saw this with my mom- which tells a lot. It is a lovely story about a woman being a man's best friend - a man whose own family lacked the love he needed, and whose first choice in a wife reflected his expectation of no love.
My mom and I agreed - this is a movie about grace. These were two Christians - free spirits, who were imperfect, needed grace - but received that grace. God joined them together. it made me think of how when man joins himself to someone, it can be a disaster, and man can easily put that "asunder."
Reese Witherspoon was an absolute delight, making me proud of women, of being a woman. This is the femininity combined with strength that I long to see.
I have mentioned that I adore Joaquin (wah-keen) Phoenix. I just like his commitment to values and serious mindset about loving his woman. It was during this film I realized: the only thing lacking is humor. Sometimes a funny man is too goofy as a result, and not serious enough. But too serious isn't good either. Wouldn't it be cool to see Joaquin in a comedy?
