I hope that Pakistanis and others from that region - Afghanis and Indians understand that most Americans at this point are numbed by hearing of the disasters in that region, and when they say 79,000 are confirmed dead, well, it is a number that we can hardly fathom. We lost only a little over 900 in katrina, though predictions were much higher.
We were upset by that and the number lost in 9/11. The quake is unfathomable.
I have a friend from Pakistan - a nice man who offered to help me learn real estate. I can hardly even bring myself to call and offer condolences.
What do you say? "I know how you feel?"
